SHANGHAI – General Motors today shared the exciting next steps beyond its sixth year of participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai as it prepares to introduce a curated collection of iconic vehicles through its premium import and lifestyle platform – The Durant Guild.
The company announced today at CIIE that the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon Denali will be introduced to China by The Durant Guild and will start sales next year. The two segment-leading full-size SUVs will spearhead GM’s efforts to turn its displays into sales after receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback in past years at CIIE, which led to the establishment of the import business.
“We are excited about the new milestone to be achieved by The Durant Guild as a business born out of CIIE,” said Julian Blissett, GM executive vice president and president of GM China. “It shows GM’s continuous effort to explore new business opportunities with an unwavering commitment to bringing the best products, technologies and services to China.”
In the meantime, The Durant Guild is stepping up customer outreach and engagement across China, with direct-to-customer showrooms and delivery centers slated to open in major tier-one and tier-two cities by the end of next year.
It is also looking for potential partners in China’s regional markets, as it aims to expand its presence to more cities and engage more customers interested in imported vehicles. It will be part of an inclusive customer experience that brings together brick-and-mortar showrooms, flash stores, digital, door-to-door service and more.
“The Durant Guild is set to deliver highly diversified premium products and exclusive services to aspiring Chinese vehicle buyers,” said Leon Li, president of The Durant Guild and vice president of GM Premium Import. “We’re getting ready on all fronts to go to market to satisfy the increasing customer desire for high-quality and personalized lifestyles.”
Leading offerings from The Durant Guild
The Chevrolet TAHOE, the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States for more than two decades, delivers the perfect blend of capability, cargo space and comfort expected from a multi-purpose family vehicle. Whether towing a trailer, going off road or taking the family on a road trip, it is a trustworthy and versatile partner chosen by nearly one out of four American full-size SUV buyers.
The GMC YUKON DENALI, with its trim name derived from the highest mountain peak in North America, represents the professional and performance pinnacle for GM’s premium truck and SUV brand. Rugged yet refined, it integrates state-of-the-art technologies designed for an ultimate off-road experience as well as Denali-exclusive interior details for expressive luxury.
A wide range of electrification solutions
The Durant Guild booth is also hosting the China premiere of the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the China debut of the Chevrolet Silverado EV, and the return of the GMC HUMMER EV to CIIE. All three exemplify GM’s full range of electrification solutions, from hybrid to all-electric.
The Chevrolet CORVETTE E-Ray blends the timeless charm of Corvette aesthetics with visionary electric elements built on a unique dual-propulsion architecture for sports cars. Marking the nameplate’s ground-breaking entry into electrified all-wheel-drive racing performance, it is the fastest production model in Corvette’s 70-year history.
The Chevrolet SILVERADO EV reimagines the capability, performance and versatility of the brand’s best-selling nameplate, drawing on GM’s Ultium EV platform as a clean slate. The highly flexible EV platform also underpins the revolutionary GMC HUMMER EV, which defies the perception of a pickup by forging a new path toward zero emissions.
The 6th CIIE is taking place from Nov. 5-10, 2023, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The Durant Guild booth is in Hall 2.1.
